Hermes Trismegistus

Hermes Trismegistus, the Thrice-Great, was the legendary sage of ancient Egypt, joined with Thoth, the god of wisdom and writing. The teachings carried in his name, the Hermetica, shaped the mystery schools, the alchemists and the great minds of the Renaissance.

When the jar at Nag Hammadi was opened in 1945, Hermetic writings were found inside, buried right beside the Gospel of Thomas.

In Their Words

“That which is above is like that which is below, and that which is below is like that which is above, to work the miracles of the One Thing.”

The Emerald Tablet (translation by Dan Dillman)

What This Sage Teaches Us

Hermes taught that the Kosmos is one living whole. The pattern of the stars is the pattern of the soul, and the mind of the Great Spirit is reflected in our own minds. Master yourself, and you understand the universe. Understand the universe, and you will find yourself.

Reflect: What is happening within you that is mirrored in the world around you?
