Charles Fillmore

Charles Fillmore and his wife Myrtle founded the Unity movement in Kansas City in 1889, after Myrtle was healed through prayer and the truth that she was a child of the Divine. Charles had been lame since childhood. Through daily practice he too found healing.

Fillmore became a student of Emma Curtis Hopkins and spent his life teaching practical Christianity: the teachings of Jesus applied to everyday life.

What This Sage Teaches Us

Fillmore taught that the twelve disciples of Jesus are symbols of twelve spiritual powers within every person: faith, strength, wisdom, love, power, imagination, understanding, will, order, zeal, renunciation and life. When these powers are awakened and gathered around the Christ within, the whole person is renewed.

Every great achievement is seen first in the mind. Hold the picture, put away all doubt, and the Great Spirit works through you.

Reflect: Which of the twelve powers is calling to be awakened in you right now?
